Blue Edge Catering
The Year 11 & 12 Certificate II in Hospitality and Cookery students have begun cooking up a storm each week for the Blue Edge participants.
The adults enjoy their beautifully made coffees when they arrive after their workout.
Participants enjoy a continental breakfast on Tuesday and a fully cooked breakfast on Thursday mornings - thanks to the Cookery students!
Hospitality and Cookery students have to complete a number of services to be awarded their Certificate. These breakfasts count towards those services.
We hope Blue Edge will enjoy our breakfasts each week until the end of Term.
Year 9 Food & Design Technology
Our first cook in Year 9 was a huge success - can't you tell by the smiles?
Chicken Rice paper rolls with a homemade dipping sauce.
Students have been working hard to complete the Kitchen and Food Safety Course before being allowed to cook. This cook included knife skills (julienne vegetables), shallow frying (chicken), boiling (noddles) and working as a team.
Everyone loved the rice paper rolls and they were super healthy with carrots, cucumbers, snow peas, mint and capsicum being included.
Year 10 Hospitality Studies
Year 10 have made a great start to the year practicing their knife skills to prepare Bruschetta. This term we are focusing on Workplace Health and Safety and Food Safety to complement our practical learning. Great job Year 10!
Year 11 Food & Nutrition
Year 11 Food and Nutrition have begun their food science journey through an investigation of Bioavailability of Vitamin C in fruit and vegetables following processing. Students used iodine solution and ascorbic acid test strips to test a range of orange juice and garden pea products to determine results.
Certificate II in Hospitality
Year 11 Certificate II in Hospitality students have completed 2 shifts at the Stanthorpe RSL Club today. Big smiles, a little nervous but they jumped straight into work. If you visit the RSL on Mondays you will be served by this class!
Mrs Hamilton's class work at the RSL on Tuesdays so come along and say hi and enjoy a coffee made by our students.
