Year 9 Food & Design Technology
Year 9 Food & Design are learning different methods of cookery. By cooking a chicken schnitzel and coleslaw students learnt and practiced Crumbing, Shallow Frying and Knife skills.
Eating the rainbow! That coleslaw looks delicious and so healthy.
This week the methods of cookery were stewing, rubbing in and baking and the students made a Peach and Nectarine Cobbler, using school fruit of course.
Parents, I would be asking them to cook dinner for you this week - mains and dessert Yum!

Year 11 Certificate II in Hospitality
Certificate II in Hospitality and Certificate II in Cookery students are working at the RSL today during lunch service as part of the practical component of their course.
Every Monday and Tuesday you will see us learning all the different elements involved in working in the Hospitality industry.

Year 12 Certificate II in Information and Cultural Services
As part of their Certificate II in Information and Cultural Services, Year 12 students are gathering information about cultural service venues while on famils. Recent visits to Southern Downs Regional Council, the Art Gallery, the Railway Precinct, the Visitor Information Centre and other activities such as an historical town walk are proving interesting and informative.

Year 11 & 12 Certificate II in Cookery & Hospitality
Wednesday night the students and teachers from Shiwa, Japan and their host families enjoyed a BBQ style farewell dinner. Our students cooked and served 60 people a beautiful buffet style meal with Pork Belly, Satay Chicken skewers, local sausages, baked stuffed pumpkin and all the trimmings. Plus they whipped up 2 different desserts - sticky date puddings and pavlovas.
Thanks to Mr Hamilton and Mrs Hamilton for guiding the the students through this major dinner.
I think we all agree, it looks fabulous!
