Faculty Focus Shiwa Visit 2025
Shiwa Visit 2025
The annual Shiwa visit to Stanthorpe has been another privilege, despite the complications that Cyclone Alfred created in the last few days of their visit.
Students enjoyed spending time with their host families from Sunday afternoon; some visited animal sanctuaries, local tourist attractions and soaked up the local atmosphere.
At school, our Japanese visitors experienced Australian high school life by attending some classes with host buddies, eating morning tea and lunch in the playground, and experiencing the range of activities that occur across the school.
Some of our staff delivered lessons in art, drama, manufacturing, and food technology which the Japanese students embraced and enjoyed.
We said goodbye to the students on Thursday afternoon amid the usual torrent of tears and best wishes.
Thank you to the host families who took such great care of our visiting Japanese friends, the school staff who helped out with activities and events, and to Rachael Walker for organising every detail of the visit.
