Cross Country 2025
Stanthorpe State High School kicked off the term with its much-anticipated annual Inter-House Cross-Country Carnival in Week 1. Despite another round of unpredictable weather, our dedicated and flexible staff worked behind the scenes to ensure the event went ahead—bringing energy, fun, and a strong sense of community spirit to the day.
The morning began with laughter and cheers as our House Captains entertained the crowd with a humorous fashion parade, setting a positive tone before the races began. Throughout the day, students showcased outstanding house pride—decked out in colourful outfits, cheering on their peers, and participating enthusiastically in events like the Tug-O-War and Ball Games.
The main part of the day featured some truly impressive running performances across all age groups. A huge congratulations to all who participated and contributed to their house’s efforts!
We now turn our attention to the next level of competition, as our top runners head off to represent Stanthorpe State High School at the Border District Cross Country. They’ll be joined by the Granite Belt’s top 12-year-old runners for the upcoming Darling Downs event in the following weeks.
Best of luck to all our athletes—we’re proud of you!
Is your student interested in running? Have they considered joining our school Highlanders Rub Club?
Run club occurs every Thursday from 3:30 – 4:45pm. The Stanthorpe State High School ‘Highlanders Run Club’ is open to all ages and abilities with a primary purpose of providing health benefits and setting and achieving manageable goals. Permission notes are collected from Miss Follet and returned to the school office.
