Technology Update
Melissa Pascoe
Head of Department - Food & Digital Technology
Year 7 & Year 8 Food & Design Technology
These classes have been looking at food sustainability and how to use up those leftover bits and pieces that usually get tossed out at the end of the week. They have come up with some fantastic design solutions and as a class they have planned, produced and shared the results (which includes tasting!).

Year 9 Food & Design Technology
Classes have been working hard on their design project for the term - Design & Produce a new dish that would compliment the RSL's current menu. They researched the current menu, looked at gaps, designed changes to current dishes and considered elements including family friendly, cost effective and local produce and products.
I think the results speak for themselves. Well done Year 9s.

Year 10 Hospitality
Students have been designing and producing dishes that could be added to cafe menus and this includes brunch menus. Casear salads were a big hit with with various methods of cookery involved in producing this delicious dish - poaching (egg), shallow frying (bacon), baking (croutons), emulsification (dressing). Next time you are sitting and enjoying this dish at your local cafe, remember the work that goes into producing each element of the plate! Great job Year 10.

Year 11 Certificate II in Hospitality & Year 12 Certificate II in Cookery
Our weekly Coffee Shops have been a big hit in Term 2 with students working effectively in teams to serve customers and prepare and serve espresso coffees.
Year 12 Cookery students have been busy each Friday morning preparing a number of tasty treats to tempt our teachers and staff. With the implementation of the Flexischools card, teachers can now use cash or card to pay at Coffee Shop which assists students in working towards the unit Process Financial Transactions. Check out the goodies for sale over the last few weeks - delicious.

Year 11 Certificate II in Cookery
Students have been going back to basics in this course by making stocks and then turning those stocks into lots of other dishes, sauces and soups.
One of the dishes required them to grate onions and you can see from the photos the onions were making everyone cry. The smell of the beef and red wine jus pies floated around the school all day making everyone hungry! Can't wait for them to be offered for sale at Coffee Shop.

Year 12 Certificate II in Cookery
Let them eat cake... and the Year 12 Cookery students have been doing this as they complete their cake making unit. They look fantastic! Well done.
