As this is our first newsletter of the term, welcome to Semester 2!
I hope everyone had a great break and with this being the end of week three, the September holidays will be upon us before we know. Being busy is said to pass the time quickly, this is very true for us. I encourage everyone to follow our Facebook page and Schoolzine app to both stay informed of all the great things that are occurring daily, along with making sure any specific targeted messages are received.
In the senior school, Year 10 students are currently undertaking their SET Planning interviews and preparing for subject selection. Year 12 students enrolled in general subjects are completing their Unit 3 work, with mock exams starting on Thursday 4th September. This is an important opportunity for students to prepare for external exams which will occur in Term 4. Seniors engaged in vocational courses have begun to finalise their courses, with the outcomes to produced a credit to all involved. For our Year 11 students, an important aspect of this term is to participate in the process to select our student leaders for 2026. Congratulations to all the candidates for their willingness to serve the school community.
Links to complete a 2025 School Opinion Surveys have been emailed to families. The survey is open until Friday 22 August, and we encourage all families to take this opportunity to have your say about what our school does well, and how we can improve. Year 8 and 11 students have also been emailed a survey link and will be provided the opportunity to complete the survey during school hours in the coming weeks.
Each school family received one email invitation from the Department of Education to complete the Parent/Caregiver Survey. The survey invitation was emailed in the week beginning 21 July and is titled School Opinion Survey for parents and caregivers, 2025.
Thank you to everyone who has already completed the Parent/Caregiver Survey. If you are unable to find the email invitation, please check other parent/caregiver email addresses and junk email. If you are unable to access the survey or you would like any other assistance, please contact the school office on 46815888.
In the past couple of weeks, we have had members of our Year 7 support team, Year Level Co-ordinators – Tanya Hamilton and Stephanie Stevens, Head of Department – Linda Perrett, visit our local partner primary schools in preparation for students entering Year 7. Each school has been provided enrolment forms for families to complete.
If anyone has a child entering Year 7 in 2026 or knows families with current Year 6 children, please have the enrolment forms returned to the Stanthorpe State High School office as soon as possible (by Wednesday 10 September) or contact the school office to be provided enrolment forms. A flyer is attached to this newsletter with further details regarding some of our transition activities.
